Porvenir
Porvenir, the capital of the Province of Tierra del Fuego, is located across the Strait of Magellan. This city is separated from Punta Arenas by this strait.
Porvenir is the most inhabited city on the island of Tierra del Fuego and can be reached by sea and also by air. In addition, it can be accessed by land, but always crossing the Strait of Magellan from the Tres Puentes terminal, located within the urban radius of Punta Arenas, which considers the navigation of two hours on a ferry; or at the crossing of Punta Delgada, about 165 kilometers from Punta Arenas, which by sea takes passengers and vehicles to Bahía Azul, from which point you must travel another 120 kilometers by land.
The original inhabitants are the Selk'nam, recently recognized as a native people by the Chilean State. It stands out for its King Penguin colony, the Parque de los Estromatolitos, its large population of guanacos, its vast estancias and its great scenic beauty.
